Munich
On Tuesday, 29 April 1980, Bavarian Television (BR: Bayerischer Rundfunk, Bavaria's public broadcaster) aired the first episode of its new series “Heut' abend”, which later became the ARD talk show hosted by Joachim Fuchsberger: in “Clown und Poet” the clown Oleg Popov and the actor Klaus Maria Brandauer meet in front of a studio audience; Brandauer recites texts by Henry Miller, Peter Brook, William Shakespeare, Hermann Hesse, Ernst Jandl and Peter Altenberg. According to the closing credits, the music is played by a studio band with Olaf Kübler, Robert (Bob) Degen, Günter Lenz, Joe Nay and Harry Pepl; Pepl plays his old Gibson Les Paul. ORF “Ohne Maulkorb”
Vienna
On Friday, 3 June 1983, the ORF (Austria's public broadcaster) youth magazine “Ohne Maulkorb” (Szene Wien), presented by Peter Resetarits, devoted a feature of its own to the Jazzzwio, with interviews with Werner Pirchner, the Austrian composer and vibraphonist, and Harry Pepl. The duo played “Better Times In Sight”, “Good-bye, Baby Post” and “Air, Love & Vitamins”, along with an excerpt from the film “Der Untergang des Alpenlandes” featuring Pirchner. The description in the ORF archive notes that with the Jazzzwio the two had made “a name for themselves far beyond Austria's borders”. An excerpt was released in 2009 on the DVD “Live In Concerts”.
