Thesis on Wolfgang Muthspiel with interviews. At the Graz jazz department Muthspiel studied only with Pepl (pp. 13, 155). In the interview of 2 September 2003 he calls him “the authority on time” and says: “But what Harry Pepl ‘pulls off’ is another planet” (p. 165, which also has a photo of Pepl by Martin Schaberl, August 1992). In a reprinted conversation with the German guitar magazine Gitarre & Bass (7/1998), Pepl stands for “rhythm, time and swing” (p. 201); the Swiss drummer Jojo Mayer calls Pepl Muthspiel’s “early teacher and mentor” (p. 221). Also covers the project “Muthspiel & Muthspiel play Pepl-Pirchner” (pp. 293 to 295). Quotations translated from the German.
