Black-and-white photo, taken in Paris, France, in 1987 according to Daniel Pepl: Jack DeJohnette sits on a stool with Harry Pepl's Ibanez guitar and bends his head over the fingerboard, while Harry Pepl, his glasses hanging on a cord around his neck, stands beside him and laughs. A music stand in the foreground on the left, an amplifier on the right. In 2014 Daniel Pepl captioned it “jimi dejohnette under the benevolent eye of the guitar's owner, paris 1987” (translated from the German). The photographer was Heimo Steps, Pepl's supporter and manager in Graz, Austria. In those years Pepl and DeJohnette played together in the group of the French clarinettist and saxophonist Michel Portal. From left: Harry Pepl, Jack DeJohnette.
