Nach Saalfelden

On the title: it refers to the Saalfelden Jazz Festival (Salzburg province, Austria), where the brothers Wolfgang and Christian Muthspiel, the Austrian guitarist and the Austrian trombonist and composer, played the music of Pepl and Werner Pirchner's duo Jazzzwio on Saturday, 24 August 2002 (information from Daniel Pepl, 2026). Home-studio recording by the Lonely Single Swinger Band from Hernstein, Lower Austria, Austria, about five and a half minutes without a break: a low register begins alone, after 18 seconds the other parts enter, the music grows denser until around the two-minute mark, pulls back, builds up a second time and fades out. Although every track was recorded one after another, the piece takes the shape of a band improvising together.

Nach Saalfelden, Lonely Single Swinger Band

2002

Harry Pepl plays every instrument himself, track by track, one after another, in his home studio in Hernstein, Lower Austria, Austria, and yet the music enters like a band: a low register begins alone, after 18 seconds the other parts join in, the music grows denser until around the two-minute mark, pulls back and builds up a second time. From Pepl’s 2002 Christmas CD.
