Pepl learned how to play swing with Goodman, but saw no impact on his later playing; for Goodman he played with a small amplifier and no reverb. The executive producers were Kurt A. Mueller and Peter Schmidlin; the label code LC 5370 is given by Kohler. The recording dates from 1980, the release from 1996.
According to France Musique (2016), Goodman took only his pianist Don Haas to Europe and auditioned Pepl, Peter “Fifi” Witte and Charly Antolini only there; none of the three spoke English, and the rehearsal was limited to two standards. Chancellor Helmut Schmidt attended the first concert. TCB reissued the CD in 2016.
